Living Hope Conference – 6 March

On 6th March people will gather in Great Missenden for the Living Hope: Green Churches, Green Schools Conference. It will be an opportunity to explore faith and the environment. There will be leading theologians, environmental experts and people from around the Diocese of Oxford interested in how we bring together our passion for the earth and faith.

Keynote speakers on the day will include Dave Bookless (A Rocha UK and author of “Planetwise”), Paula Clifford (Christian Aid, and author of “Angels with Trumpets: The Church in a Time of Global Warming”) and Chris Sunderland (Founder of Earth Abbey and author of “The Dream That Inspired the Bible”).

Workshops led by experts and practitioners will include:

  • churches and schools that have installed renewable energy;
  • working with community groups and initiatives such as Transition Towns;
  • advice on easy energy saving for homes, churches and schools;
  • the science of climate change and answering questions related to climate;
  • fairtrade and sustainability;
  • reflection on spirituality, community and reconnecting with the earth;
  • working with children and young people on environmental questions;
  • experiencing and constructing a “green” prayer walk, and creating worship that includes environmental themes
  • what happened at Copenhagen and what the “big picture” is on climate change negotiations

There will also be a marketplace with stalls from community groups, churches, environmental service providers and organisations.

The cost of the conference is £5, payable on the day. The fee includes coffee, tea and all workshop materials.
